News from Essec USA Community

Tribute to Michel's Departure as our Newsletter Editor

Have you ever met Michel Gulick, our newsletter editor?

Michel has been our Newsletter Editor, or should we say, our Newsletter Guru for the last two years but we never had a chance to meet. No kidding! From the West Coast, Michel has been the a Jack of All Trades for the newsletter, thanks to the wonder of the technology and despite being a few hours behind New York and Paris. Now in Russia, he will be a few hours ahead of us, running after other opportunities.

Michel contacted Christian about two years ago to mention that we could do better with the newsletter. Far from being just "comments", he accepted our challenge to show us how we could do better. Playing with time difference, he became an extremely valuable asset. Not only did he improved our newsletter visual aspect, but also he made it a true monthly email. He became also the link with our Chapter Leaders, to get their monthly information.

Michel is not a typical product of Essec but he represents the "ideal" American candidate. After his undergrad education at the University of California, San Diego, he decided to go for his Master at Essec. He came back to his roots after this French time. Or should we say the European tour as he met his future wife while he was doing an Exchange program at Bocconi in Milan. Back in California, he worked for HP as Communication project manager .... that's when he started challenging us and accepted the position of Essec USA Newsletter Guru.

Michel is now moving to his next step, establishing his life in St Petersburg (Russia), where his wife is from. Going after different ventures, we are sure he will become an invaluable asset for the Russian economy, and we hope for the Essec Alumni there.

His departure won't go unnoticed. We are lucky he made such a difference at Essec USA, helping us make it one of the top Essec international clubs in the World.

Michel, we thank you for your long nights, and invaluable work.

Best of luck in your future.

Anne de Louvigny Stone - President Essec USA
Christian Betheuil - VP Communication Essec USA

Wine Tasting - Wednesday, September 17th
"The Fine Wines of Castello di Borghese"

Prince Marco and Princess Ann Marie Borghese were in the news in 1999 when they purchased the Hargrave Vineyard in Cutchogue, Long Island. Hargrave was the first major vineyard to break ground in Long Island and is known as one of the North Fork's finest. In recent years Castello di Borghese has been in the news again and again as its wines have consistently been awarded gold and silver medals at numerous national and international wine competitions. You too can experience these fine wines at our first wine tasting of the new season on September 17th.

Ann Marie Borghese will lead our tasting at the stunning Firebird Restaurant on West 46th Street. We will meet in the ballroom of this townhouse which is adorned with opulent antiques and exquisite old world appointments...truly an experience you won't want to miss! A selection of hors d'oeuvres will be served at the pre-tasting reception. This CBSAC/NY event is being cosponsored by the Oxonian Society.
