Acting First in the US

"Acting First" is not only the motto of the school but also a reality in the US. First of all, the US Alumni will be the first Business School association to become an associate member of the New York chapter of the Franco American Chamber of Commerce. This comes as a recognition of the hard work that has been put to raise the profile of the school and making it a key player in the Franco American business world.

Outside of New York, the chapters are growing. Miami had their first get-together last month and they are eager to develop. Boston is following the path with their first event in September.

To stay at the top, Essec USA is happy to announce that the "Second Annual Newsmaker panel" will take place in New York in April 2003. Christian Betheuil and Anne Stone are leading this project and will be happy to give you more info if you are interest in joining the team.

Once again Essec USA is proud to participate in the international development of the Essec business school. We are now all back to work and hope that you will support this activity, actively participating in the get-together and other activities organized by the Association.

Best regards,
Christian Betheuil (E95)
VP Communication Essec USA

Open position at the board of Essec USA

We are sad and happy to know that Xavier Leroy (Essec) is leaving the US to enjoy new ventures with Aventis in Strasbourg, France. Xavier spent the last year in the US for Aventis during which he was Treasurer of Essec USA.

We are looking to replace him as Treasurer of Essec USA. The ideal profile is someone interested in the development of the Essec in the US and who will be ready to give some time for the association. Closely working with Anne Stone, the treasurer is in charge to keep the books in order and reporting financial results to the Maison des Essec in Paris. This position is a key element of the activity of Essec USA as we are not only developing the number of Alumni but also organizing more events. This volunteer position can be done from any place in the US, by an alumni of any school. The time required for this volunteer work depends upon your involvement and can vary from 1/2 hour a month to a lot more.

If you are interested, don't hesitate to contact Anne Stone.

Special Update: Change in U.S. Immigration Law

As a result of the September 11, 2001 tragedy, Congress has begun to make a concerted effort to keep track of all aliens* in the U.S. As a result, the government has begun implementing a long-standing requirement for all aliens in the U.S. to register any change of address while they are residing within the U.S.

The form for filing a change of address is called an "AR-11".

All aliens must file form AR-11 when a change of address occurs.

If you have moved since you received your original I-94 Departure Record, you must file a change of address so that the U.S. government has your present address on file.

The AR-11 can be found on the INS website and be downloaded: http://www.ins.usdoj.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/ar-11.htm

Form AR-11 should be sent by certified, return receipt requested and copies of the receipt and the application should be kept by you.

* The U.S. government considers all persons in the U.S. who are not U.S. citizens, "aliens".
