Tribute to Michel's Departure as our Newsletter Editor

Have you ever met Michel Gulick, our newsletter editor? Michel has been our Newsletter Editor, or should we say, our Newsletter Guru for the last two years but we never had a chance to meet. No kidding! From the West Coast, Michel has been the a Jack of All Trades for the newsletter, thanks to the wonder of the technology and despite being a few hours behind New York and Paris. Now in Russia, he will be a few hours ahead of us, running after other opportunities.

Michel contacted Christian about two years ago to mention that we could do better with the newsletter. Far from being just "comments", he accepted our challenge to show us how we could do better. Playing with time difference, he became an extremely valuable asset. Not only did he improved our newsletter visual aspect, but also he made it a true monthly email. He became also the link with our Chapter Leaders, to get their monthly information...

News from ESSEC USA Community

Please Welcome our New Treasurer

I have great pleasure in announcing Jean-Xavier Barthelemy as our new treasurer at ESSEC USA. Jean-Xavier comes to us with great experience. He graduated from ESSEC in 1985 and from Sciences Po in 1987. He joined a French-American CPA (certified public accounting) firm when he came to New York - from Vienna (Austria, not Virginia) eight years ago and has been working there ever since.

On the personal front, his wife works at the United Nations in New York and he is the father of four girls all schooled at the Lycée Français. We are fortunate to have all of this experience available to our ESSEC USA organization and look forward to working with Jean-Xavier who is great fun to be with.

Please read more about Jean-Xavier in our interview of the month, and join me in welcoming him as our new treasurer.

Anne de Louvigny Stone
President ESSEC USA

Options for Temporary Visas to Work in the US
by Julie B. Krasnogor, Esq.

Obtaining a work visa can be a confusing process. However, with some basic information and assistance, many foreign applicants, especially those with college degrees or special skills, can qualify for work visas.

The world of visas is divided into the two hemispheres of temporary and permanent visas. Temporary visas, identified by alphabet letters, permit stays of limited duration linked to a specific purpose of entry. Allowable periods of stay can range from a few months to several years, or for indefinitely renewable periods.

The permanent visa, also known as a “green card,” permits indefinite stay in the US and authorization to work for any employer for any length of time. One advantage of the temporary work visa is that it is generally available in three to four months, whereas the immigrant visa can take two to three years or more...
